| Pieter Schutijser wins the Benelux Kona Cup |

|

The Dutch and Belgian Kona Cup’s turned out to be a big success with a total of 62 competitors evenly divided between the two countries. It was light to medium conditions in most races and again we saw competitors of all age groups battling it out on level terms.
Pieter Schutijser from Belgium – with lot’s of experience from OD racing proved unbeatable and won 3 of the events in style thanks to his excellent tactical skills. With an accumulated score of 146 ranking points, he moved up to 28th. on the World ranking, and is definitely a man to look out for in the coming Worlds in September.
After the finals, an open fun race was organised on a giant figure 8 slalom course in light winds. Out of the 35 competitors, 10 were Kona sailors. The conditions were shifty, and at times some upwind sailing were called for – vastly favouring the Kona boards – and most of them finished in the top 10.
Still, it became obvious that the Kona is a very competitive slalom board – even on clean slalom courses.
