  • Ranking System

    Ranking System

    The Kona ranking system is simple and consists of two factors only;
    1) Base points (Fixed)
    2) Number of competitors (Reversed score)

    The base points for national and international races shall be rewarded progressivly as follows;

    National races; 25 points
    National Championships and international races; 50 points
    Continental Championships; 75 points
    World Championships; 100 points

    Example; The winner of a national race with 25 competitors will score 25 + 25 = 50 points. The second placed will score 25 + 24 = 49 points etc.

    In events with weight groups started together, the score shall reflect the total number of competitors.

    Example; The winner of the light weight division (25 competitors) may place 3rd. overall; 25 + 23 = 48 points.

    In events with separate starts for each weight group, the score shall be based on total amount of competitors. (all weight groups included)

    Example; If the total number of competitors are 99, the winner of each group - regardless of its individual number of racers - shall be given the factor of 99.
    The winners of each group shall receive 99 points + the base points rewarded in accordance with base point schedule above.

    The ranking is a continuous system, whereby individual event scores dating back more than a year will be erased. A sailors score will only reveal results made within the last 12 months to ensure a fair and up to date picture.

    Example; If you had x amount of valid ranking scores within the season, and the first one was accumulated at April 1st.- it will be deducted from your total on April 1st. the following year.
